I pray for his brain. I ask that God would keep it sharp and focused and that his thoughts would not be conformed to this world, but would be transformed and renewed by the power of God. | Romans 12:2
I pray for his eyes. I ask that God would guard them diligently and would set no worthless thing before them. | Psalm 101:3
I pray for his ears. I pray that they would be tuned to hear God’s voice. I pray that J will remain attentive to the Holy Spirit’s promptings. | 1 Thessalonians 5:19; Isaiah 30:9
I pray for his mouth. I pray that no unwholesome talk would come out of it, but only that which can build others up. I pray that my husband will always speak the truth in love. | Ephesians 4:15,29
I pray for his heart. I pray that God would sit enthroned there, that he will love God with all his heart and soul and might, and that he will love his neighbor as himself. I pray for his heart to remain soft toward me, and toward our future children. | Mark 12:30-31, Proverbs 5:18-19, Malachi 4:6
I pray for his arms. I ask God to strengthen them and make them firm. I pray that J will delight in his labor, and that God will bless the work of his hands. | Psalm 90:17, Ecclesiastes 3:22
I pray for his legs. I ask God to give him strength and endurance, that he will run the race that is set before him, trusting God, without growing weary or fainting along the way. | Hebrews 12:1, Isaiah 40:31
I pray for his feet. I pray that they will be quick to flee from temptation, to turn away from evil, and to faithfully pursue wisdom, righteousness, peace, love, and truth. | 2 Timothy 2:22, Psalm 34:14, Proverbs 4:5-7
Not sure why the visual of praying for my husband from “head to toe” prompts me to do so. It’s easy for me to remember, instead of getting bogged down with a list of 20 things to pray for, challenging me to actively intercede for him. I see him and start praying, I watch him take a nap and pray. It’s easy for me to get distracted with life and forget to actively pray for my man in general, not just when he asks me too… this helps me.
How do you pray for your husband?
I love this idea and the imagery! I agree that it is so easy to get distracted and forget to pray for our husbands. Awhile back we received prayer cards in the mail from FamilyLifeToday and they had one for praying over your husband, wife, and children. It was really moving. I often forget to do it each day, but it takes a similar approach of praying for them and it incorporates scripture. Thanks for sharing! :)
This is so beautiful and such a great way to remind us to pray for our husbands. The “head to toe” idea is really simple and a great visual reminder.
A card like that would be helpful and nice, Nathana! That’s cool. I love to hear how other women live life.
Thank you so much for sharing this. One of my goals this year is to be more intentional about prayer and I love this visual to guide me in prayer for my husband!
