The Week According to My iPhone

01/24/2015 · In: life

ATMI-Week1

For some reason this week I got hit with a “I’m in a rut” attitude about myself. Not anything negative or degrading, just a desire to mix things up a bit (the creative spirit in me rearing its beautiful, spunky head).

So what are things relatively easy to spice up? This I brainstormed….

First, hair. This week I had a couple inches cut off my hair, had it layered, and dyed the underneath a deep red. My reasoning? What’s the point of having curly hair if it’s not curly? It was getting long, so I cut a good bit off. The picture is my absurdly short ponytail. Pretty pumped.

Next, makeup. I’ve never worn a lot of makeup, nor have I experimented with anything over than neutral colors and simple makeup. My husband digs it, I dig it. But… due to my ‘rut’ feeling, I started exploring the kind of makeup choices for my particular skin tone, eye color, etc. Hence the green eye shadow. Green! Unique and fun in my opinion. PS – brown mascara? Who woulda thought. But it’s cool. :)

Last but not least, style/clothing. I’ve become a big fan of layers this winter. You can see the longer shirt underneath a sweater-shirt in that one shot. The patterned shirt? Wore it with a black vest. Layers — unique pairings, fun experiments.

This week I got my new last name imprinted on my Bible. Pretty excited about that.

This week at work the t-shirts I designed arrived at the office. Cool and fun moment for this graphic designer.

Ever heard of Matt Chandler? He’s the lead teaching pastor at The Village Church, in Texas. Last month I discovered their app, and it’s been a great addition to my morning and evening commute. I like it because I can download as many messages as I want, so I’m not eating data while away from wi-fi (i.e. in the car driving). Super great to have such a resource, to listen to the Bible being preached so conveniently. I’ve learned a lot, been challenged and convicted, and laughed a good bit because Matt is hilarious.

The week has had its ups and downs, but God is good.
