Christmas Weekend Recap

What a wonderful whirlwind Christmas weekend is! Am I right?

Christmas breakfast and lunch we spent with my family, and that afternoon we drove to Savannah to spend some time with J’s family.

It was a day of laughter, giving, light sabers, and delicious food. My cousins are my friends and my in-law family have become very special to me, so I felt surrounded all day by love and tradition and cheer (to add a little holiday cheese.) I love that even as a married adult, my parents still desire to create the same kind of Christmas as when we were kids. I know it won’t always be like this, the older we get, when we start having our own children, but right now it’s special.

When in Savannah we adventured around the marsh, played games, visited other family, and ate even more yummy food. I’m thankful for the friendships I have found in my new in-law family, my new siblings.

Another wonderful, memorable Christmas in the books!

Thank you, God, for the gift of your son born in the manger, to later save us from our sin, giving us a chance for relationship with You.  Thank you, for the grace and mercy and love in Christmas. And thank you for family to celebrate and share it with.

“Lent should never be morose — an annual ordea “Lent should never be morose — an annual ordeal during which we begrudgingly forgo a handful of pleasures. Instead, we ought to approach Lent as an opportunity, not a requirement. After all, it is meant to be the church’s springtime, a time when, out of the darkness of sin’s winter, a repentant, empowered people emerges. No wonder one liturgy refers to it as “this joyful season.”
