Curtains, Carols, & Neck Pain

12/14/2015 · In: life, travel

This is a random post, peeps, diary-style….

J and I adventured up to Atlanta last weekend to catch up with friends. We ate delicious food, telling stories from the past few months. We enjoyed a wonderful concert put on by the Atlanta Master Chorale (including a close friend of ours.) Church on Sunday was thought-provoking, a word on repentance and how sweet it can be as a consistent part of a Christian’s life, and we spent the afternoon in the warm weather.

Being in Atlanta caused a lot of old memories to flood my mind. J and I dated long distance the entire time, so I spent many a weekend in Atlanta. Meeting his friends, visiting his church, making memories. Now hanging out with these same friends a year or so later, it makes me pensive. I thought about a couple of things:

  1. I’m super happy we’re married now and not only dating. Way better all around.
  2. Certain people have a gift of being welcoming. His friends have welcomed me into their stories and their inside jokes, making me feel like I’ve always belonged. It’s incredibly nice.
  3. I love being a pair with J. Whether it’s dressing up for a concert or grocery shopping or riding around in the car, I enjoy his company immensely. Makes me thankful.

Weekends in Atlanta mean eating out, and this weekend was not short of good food: chicken and waffles at West Egg (I’m sad I didn’t get a photo of it), a panini at Marlow’s, pizza at Crispina, brunch at Local Three. If you’re ever in Atlanta, you’d be happy with any of these choices.

We did a little bit of curtain shopping, because it’s what we hope to add to our home next. If you have your own place, you probably already know this, but curtain shopping is overwhelming. Would you agree or am I just a rookie? Man. So many choices, so many patterns and colors! Any tips?

I did feel extra festive walking around ATL on Saturday in my red plaid and Christmas present bow earrings (thanks to Kate Spade). Aren’t they fun?

A weekend of laughing, holiday festivities, eating, resting… and neck pain.

I have never had any major neck pain in my life, other than the “I slept on it wrong” tweak, but last week I was diagnosed with a serious pinched nerve and inflamed disc in my neck. AKA: Not fun. Laying down, heat pad, muscle relaxers, and more.

So here’s to swift healing, great friends, fun weekends, and warm weather. Happy Monday to all!
