Gingerbread Houses & A New ‘Do’

12/24/2015 · In: life

Growing up, my dad’s side of the family did a progressive dinner during Christmas week. One house would do appetizers, another would fix dinner, and one would handle desserts. Later we added arts and crafts (as we were still kids), and now we do a gingerbread house building contest (because we’re still basically big kids).

It’s a bunch of trash talking, creativity, and messy fun.

Granted, I get a lot of flack because I’m the “creative one,” having a graphic design degree and what not. I’ve included pictures of mine below. Notice the cobblestone path, stained-glass window above the door, and the Christmas wreath on the back. :)

It was lots of fun to laugh and tease and catch up with my cousins. And to get messy.

On another note! Haircut!

Being a creative spirit by nature, I go through seasons where I think “what can I do differently to myself that’s fun and fresh and spunky?” (Yes, that’s literally the question I pose to my inner psyche… and to my best friend.)

It results in a myriad of things: sometimes a bright or dark nail polish color, a dramatic eyeliner or lip gloss, or in this case — a hair cut.

Those of you with curly hair understand: it’s wonderful and fun, but there’s not much you can do with it ‘cut-wise.’ It’s curly, and that’s about it. But I’ve been on the hunt for about a year or so for a more styled, unique cut, and yesterday I adventured here.

What do you think? Surprisingly, I wasn’t terrified or nervous. I was all, yes yes! Haha.

Merry Christmas Eve, friends!

Your haircut is so cute! I have a graphic design degree as well. I think we tend to be able to break things down into layers and pay more attention to the details. I’m loving your cobblestone walk way. Merry Christmas to you & your family.

These houses are adorable! Such a fun activity. We also do contests over at my house!
