We’re at the park, and she’s happily bouncing, We’re at the park, and she’s happily bouncing, amazed by the big trucks driving by, never wanting to stop going down the slide, smiling constantly — and I’m laughing with her, amazed at her joy and think — Is this what God feels like with me as His child?

Delight. Lightness. Wonder. Love.

I was filled to the brim with it, covering every crack and reaching every corner. And then I realized — this. is. it.

This is how I operate in the world.

I felt so... whole... not because of my efforts at wholeness but because I have God and He has me. (Psalm 23 rings loud: with Him as my Shepherd, I lack nothing.)

The best I can do for myself is accept and live in His love, especially when mistakes and lack and circumstances scream reasons I can’t. And the best I can do for others, those under my roof and those on this platform, is to extend invitations of His love through my own and through His Word.

If your life has told you He doesn’t want to love you or know you, I’m here to tell that He does. It’s waiting for you, probably even pursuing you... it just takes a Yes of faith.

Message me if you want to talk about it; I would LOVE to hear your story, no matter how different we are.

You're not forsaken,
You're not alone
His love is unending
So know it well
Remind your soul,
remind your spirit,
remind your heart
The love of the Father

Every week it seems I’m inspired by a comment a friend and pastor made years ago — “Don’t be afraid to talk to someone about the truth of Jesus. Think of it as joining a conversation God might already be having with that person.”

Such brokenness we see, such pain, such fear. Attend to Jesus — Lord, Savior, King — with all your honest thoughts and feelings, and let His power and love change you. Let Him form and re-form you into a help for the hurting, a bright spot for those in the dark, a presence for others to rest in. A ‘little Christ’ on the earth.

Living life with the Holy Spirit — “you fulfil Living life with the Holy Spirit — “you fulfill the will of God through the inner influence of His Spirit instead of the outer influence of the law of God” (David Guzik).

This took me probably 15 years of following Jesus to grasp. It felt too easy, my willpower was my measuring stick, and the freedom was terrifying.

But alas, God’s way is the best way, and there is no substitute for the Holy Spirit. I can’t muster spiritual fruit, but His goal, thankfully and marvelously, is vineyards and vineyards.

May we surrender this work to Him.

Clothe Yourself With Patience: Lauren

Your adornment must not be merely external–braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God. 1 Peter 3:3-4

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:12

This series is for women to share what they are learning to spiritually clothe themselves with, how they choose to adorn their heart, and what they choose to put on because of their desire to be precious in God’s sight.

patience

Waiting. No one likes it.

However, at some point during our normal day-to-day routine, we all end up meeting patience… face to face. We meet her in the grocery store line while checking out, in the middle of rush hour traffic when we are already running 30 minutes late to work, in the doctor’s office, and even find ourselves experiencing her in some of our conversations.

As women, I feel like we are planners by nature.

From the time we were little girls, we had big dreams and aspirations of what/who we wanted to be when we grew up, where we wanted to work, where we wanted to live, who we wanted to marry, and how many children we wanted to have.

For some of us, things fall into a place a little easier than others. However, at some point in our lives, we must be patient. Women of God are called to be pursued by men… a thing we must wait PATIENTLY for. But, we all have moments where we get anxious, uneasy, and want to take matters into our own hands. We want to start planning again. This is an issue, personally, that I struggle with on a daily basis. Don’t get me wrong; I think having a plan is a great thing. However, we have to allow the Lord to be our personal assistant. Don’t lose me here. I’m not saying God should not be the Lord of our lives, but try to follow me as I paint this picture for you.

Think of a famous person. Anyone. A performer, writer, athlete. That person probably has a personal assistant. Someone who knows him/her better than they know themselves. That assistant is in charge of planning this person’s day-to-day activities, along with big events. This performer or writer is able to do all they could possibly do with the help of an assistant. They are flexible. They work together. They are patient.

Try to think of the personal assistant like God. He knows us better than we know ourselves. He knows the plans He has for us. He knows where will go, when, and how we will get there. He knows our lives and us better than we know ourselves. We have to trust Him. We have to be patient. He is patient with us. He is kind. He is good. He has a plan.

I have come to the realization that being patient and trusting Him is something that I really struggle with. But He is asking that much of us. He’s got this.

Hang in there, sister. I know it is sometimes frustrating, but I feel that the Lord can really work in us and through us when we are patient enough to trust Him and listen.

So, in closing, trust your Personal Assistant. He knows you better than you know yourself. He’s got everything planned out. For today, tomorrow, and the weeks to come. All He asks is that you be patient with Him and others.

I can’t imagine that my beautiful friend Lauren is the only person on the planet to need help with patience. Can you relate to her story? I hope reading it encourages you like I does for me.

Oh I am a planner too! It’s so hard for me to sit back and trust that God will work things out in his timing. This is definitely something He is growing me in though!
