When you abide in Christ, when you open yourself to His Spirit’s leading and changing, when you trust and obey Him, your whole being can become ministry.

Whatever you do, do it for the glory of God, do it with God, do it and see people as Jesus saw them, with needs and dreams, and love them.

I have started more endeavors and realized more dreams in the last year then I think in my entire life. Joining @beautycounter was one of them.

So I encourage you also —

Take yourself seriously and not too seriously. Work diligently. Dream big. Be faithful. Have fun. Rest on Jesus. Hold it all with open hands. And enjoy it.

I love what our pastor said this morning — If it I love what our pastor said this morning — If it was just the cross, we’d be a bunch of forgiven corpses. We have been saved TO something, the richest and fullest of life, in Christ, forever.

May we be courageous people who know real hope and endurance in the sorrow of life and real gratitude and wonder in the good of it.

What is our hope in life and death?

What is our only confidence?

For any fellow recovering earnaholics out there, an encouragement:

‘Anything’ doesn’t only encompass what is outside our control — the future, loss, pain, etc.

Anything also includes things regarding our life with God.

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed (synonyms: unsettled, disheartened), for I am your God.” Isaiah 41:10

Fear not, He is in you. And happy to be there.
Fear not, He’s not changed His mind about you.
Fear not, you are right with Him even now because of Christ.
Fear not, He delights in you.
Fear not, nothing can separate you from Him. Even you.

Clothe Yourself With Patience: Lauren

Your adornment must not be merely external–braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God. 1 Peter 3:3-4

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:12

This series is for women to share what they are learning to spiritually clothe themselves with, how they choose to adorn their heart, and what they choose to put on because of their desire to be precious in God’s sight.

patience

Waiting. No one likes it.

However, at some point during our normal day-to-day routine, we all end up meeting patience… face to face. We meet her in the grocery store line while checking out, in the middle of rush hour traffic when we are already running 30 minutes late to work, in the doctor’s office, and even find ourselves experiencing her in some of our conversations.

As women, I feel like we are planners by nature.

From the time we were little girls, we had big dreams and aspirations of what/who we wanted to be when we grew up, where we wanted to work, where we wanted to live, who we wanted to marry, and how many children we wanted to have.

For some of us, things fall into a place a little easier than others. However, at some point in our lives, we must be patient. Women of God are called to be pursued by men… a thing we must wait PATIENTLY for. But, we all have moments where we get anxious, uneasy, and want to take matters into our own hands. We want to start planning again. This is an issue, personally, that I struggle with on a daily basis. Don’t get me wrong; I think having a plan is a great thing. However, we have to allow the Lord to be our personal assistant. Don’t lose me here. I’m not saying God should not be the Lord of our lives, but try to follow me as I paint this picture for you.

Think of a famous person. Anyone. A performer, writer, athlete. That person probably has a personal assistant. Someone who knows him/her better than they know themselves. That assistant is in charge of planning this person’s day-to-day activities, along with big events. This performer or writer is able to do all they could possibly do with the help of an assistant. They are flexible. They work together. They are patient.

Try to think of the personal assistant like God. He knows us better than we know ourselves. He knows the plans He has for us. He knows where will go, when, and how we will get there. He knows our lives and us better than we know ourselves. We have to trust Him. We have to be patient. He is patient with us. He is kind. He is good. He has a plan.

I have come to the realization that being patient and trusting Him is something that I really struggle with. But He is asking that much of us. He’s got this.

Hang in there, sister. I know it is sometimes frustrating, but I feel that the Lord can really work in us and through us when we are patient enough to trust Him and listen.

So, in closing, trust your Personal Assistant. He knows you better than you know yourself. He’s got everything planned out. For today, tomorrow, and the weeks to come. All He asks is that you be patient with Him and others.

I can’t imagine that my beautiful friend Lauren is the only person on the planet to need help with patience. Can you relate to her story? I hope reading it encourages you like I does for me.

Oh I am a planner too! It’s so hard for me to sit back and trust that God will work things out in his timing. This is definitely something He is growing me in though!

Years of painful and gracious transforming revealed false beliefs, fear and pride so strong they were insulating me from God. So with the help of the Holy Spirit, I began to practice opening my hands and relaxing the white-knuckle grip I had on being ‘enough’ on my own. I needed Him to be everything for me because I couldn’t be everything for me. By the grace of God I finally understood: He is incomparable. Nothing and no one is like Him. Nothing and no one can be what He is.

If Jesus is not most precious to me, I'll crumble under the hard, I’ll depend on control, I'll despair over the painful, I'll idolize the good, and I'll be left to settle for mediocrity.
