I recently cleaned out and organized the cabinet beneath my sink, more ruthlessly than when I did before we moved. I found a lot of products I purchased but didn’t finish, or never even opened, or was disappointed by, or ones that were left in the dust after I discovered Beautycounter.
Thought it could be fun to compare or see the similar (and better) products I found in Beautycounter. :)
Over the years, I have swapped:
Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturizer for Countertime Mineral Boost Hydrating Essence
Using the best available sources, Beautycounter screens every potential ingredient for information on specific hazards like cancer, developmental toxicity, hormone disruption, and infertility.

Tarte (not pictured) and Covergirl for Skin Twin Featherweight Foundation
Polyethylene glycol (a.k.a. PEG), found in Covergirl Clean Matte, is an emollient Beautycounter has banned from all of products due to toxicity concerns. In our foundation, plant-derived emollients like coco-caprylate are used, which give them their light, velvety feel.
Neutrogena Foaming Cleanser for Countermatch Foaming Cleanser
Bath & Body Works Shea Body Cream for Hydrating Body Lotion
Beauty marketing claims may lead consumers to believe that “natural” means “safe”—but that isn’t always the case, and heavy metals are a prime example. These naturally occurring elements (arsenic, cadmium, lead, etc.) are plentiful within the earth, but may be harmful to our health depending on various factors such as route of exposure and quantity—and unfortunately they may be present in color cosmetics. via

Clean & Clear Persa-Gel for SOS Acne Spot Treatment
Aveeno Resurfacing Scrub for Charcoal Facial Mask
Covergirl Demi-Matte Lipstick for Sheer Lipstick
Lip products with synthetic fragrances leave a bad taste (and can contain undisclosed harmful chemicals). Beautycounter uses naturally derived fragrances.
Eucerin Face Lotion for Countermatch Adaptive Moisture Lotion
Neutrogena Hydro-Boost Gel Cream for Lotus Glow Cleansing Balm
“For many chemicals, a single exposure is unlikely to cause serious harm, but over time, small doses add up. The lipstick we wear, the food we eat, and the soap we use often contain harmful chemicals can enter our bodies, hide away in our bones or fat, and build up over time. To make matters even more complicated, some chemicals can be more harmful in combination with other chemicals. The impacts of these chemicals may not be apparent for years.”
