It takes work — energy, effort, capacity — to do anything.
It takes work to fill every quiet moment with input and noise.
It takes work to avoid what’s uncomfortable in my week.
It takes work to listen instead of interrupt.
It takes work to push through the scattered thoughts to arrive at real stillness before God.
It takes work to ask questions of the Holy Spirit and wait patiently.
It takes work to pursue good relationship.
It takes work to run from vulnerability.
It takes work to constantly perform, impress and perfect.
It takes work to surrender my wants.
It takes work to choose humility, to rest in the complete and total love of God.
It takes work to believe what is True in the face of accusations and lies and temptations.
It takes work to indulge every craving.
It takes work to sit in silence and experience “nothing.”
It takes work to stay in anxiety and unsettledness.
It takes work to trust Jesus when what you feel and see isn’t what you expected.
It takes some level of work to do anything.
Am I prioritizing the better work?
The better work of Spiritual fruit, of trust, of obedience.
A question rolling around my heart lately.
