Switchboard Soldiers, Jennifer Chiaverini
How do you girls put up with callers’ complaints and demands and bad tempers day in and day out?” “One becomes accustomed to it,” Marie replied, smoothing her skirt beneath her as she gracefully seated herself. “It helps to remember that the one who loses their temper has relinquished control of a situation. The one who remains calm controls the outcome.”
Right Where You Belong, Heather MacFadyen
I hope that in these pages, by sharing my experiences and the things God has taught me, I can help sharpen your discernment to give you confidence in God’s assignments for your life. And I hope you experience contentment in occupying the space He’s giving you. That you’ll believe it is right and good because God is with you and has never left you. You’ll feel true belonging outside of any structure or human-made entity or fallible relationship. It’s my hope that in time you’ll move past simple belonging and fill that space with the authority God has given you as His daughter, coheir with Christ, and member of the royal priesthood. That you’ll create spiritual waves in an unseen dimension with outcomes you may never see with your physical eyes.
Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day, Peter Scazzero
Few of us have life-giving rhythms, so rearranging our days to stop and be with Jesus is a major shift. Add to this the reality that little silence exists in the culture, our families of origin, even in our churches and the challenge can feel overwhelming. But I can assure you that if you will persevere and ask the Holy Spirit for help, you will find that God has been waiting for you. You will get to know him in ways that can happen only in silence (Psalm 46:10). Your listening-to-God “muscles” may develop slowly, but they will develop. By God’s grace, your capacity to be with Jesus will enlarge and expand. But most importantly, you will discover, as millions of others have across the ages, that his love really is better than life (Psalm 63:3).
The Last Thing He Told Me, Laura Dave
“I feel like I’m in one of those twisted dreams that only happen when you go to sleep at the wrong time, the afternoon sun or midnight chill greeting you upon waking, disorienting you – and leaving you to turn to the person next to you, the person you trust most, looking for clarity.”
A Life Intercepted, Charles Martin
“Love did what hatred could not and never will.”
